Welcome to the forum. If you have a stock air filter box you take the top ogg and remove the white piece on the inside . It just slides out.

His mind said, "take the top off" and his fingers said, "take the top ogg".

No tape. Need air to go into the air box. Put the black one, the snorkle back on because it sucks up cold air from the fenderwell. Otherwise, without the snorkle you are sucking up hot engine air. [xx(]

I take it you don't work on cars too much...

To reinforce what the other person said: Leave the black one on.

i took both out.i figured that the intercooler
will cool down the intake charge...no?by taking
black out,the hole to let the air in is about 50%
bigger.

Is this only for the turbo models? I took my air filter cover off and there is only a white cone tyoe piece going into the intake tube and under the filter there is nothing except a little white foam piece in like a side pocket. What the heck is that?

Might be wrong, but isn't that where EGR comes in & foam is to condense oil vapor so it doesn't coat filter? [:I]
