I just got a quote from a local muffler shop to install either a 40 or 50 series muffler, axleback, on my 03' TE Cruiser. They want $115 to do the full install. Does this sound about right? Would it be wiser to have them install 2.5" pipes? I have heard a lot of controversy on whether or not to use bigger pipes. What do ya'll think?

THats not a bad price...
2.25" is sufficent unless youre running stage 1

$115 to just put on the muffler... That a rip off (espciially if they're just cutting the old one off and putting the new oen back in). On my Malibu, I had the complete back of my Exhaust system re-done (alot of work) and it only cost me $80 at Mizer Muffler.
Also, there is no need for that big of a pipe when you only have a tiny 4-banger.

No, $115 which includes installation, and the muffler. One of the best mufflers on the market I might add. Sounds pretty good to me. Wasn't sure if adding bigger pipes will reduce performance.

OK, Muffler included then thatt's just about right.
I had a flowmaster on my other car, and it wasn't loud enough for me (a 3-Chamber). Now I have a Straight-Through glass-pack which sounds alot better and is alot louder... However, the bigger camshaft could have something to do with it ![]() I might add a new Muffler to my Cruiser Eventually, but it's not on priority list.
