Default engine temp

i have an 2001 PT LE and the temp gauge runs above midway always and i live in the northwest where it gets cold...anybody have any comments... i ask the local chrysler dealership and they said it's normal but i have never had a car run with the temp guage needle in that position unless it is running very warm...any comments would be appreciated...i love my green cruiser

It could be a bad gauge. Mine has never touched the half way mark including a 100 degree day last summer that the Cruiser was sitting in a parade line not moving for an hour ( gauge never moved ) with the A/C running full blast so that isn't normal I have 2 friends that had overheating problems so don't take their word

My 03 Turbo has yet to register midway, and it's been standing very still for some time.

If you haven't cruised Maryland, you haven't cruised.

(unless you cruised somewhere else)

Hey johnny,
there has been a good thread concerning engine temp in the GT Turbo Forum http://www.ptcruiserlinks.com/forum/...?TOPIC_ID=1538. Most of the posts deal with the temp issue regarding the Turbo engine, but you might gain some isight to you question there, as well as as some remedies.

It could be the gauge as suggested above. Factory guages are seldom that accurate. You could also have a bad T-stat. If it is opening to late it would keep the temp up. You really need to get a reading of how hot the car is really running. A good shop will have a temp sensor that will read the temp just by pointing a gun at it. I guess it reads IR or something. I don't know what temp these cars are supposed to run at though or where the T-stat is supposed to open.
