CHROMEDCRUISER,
On mid-2002 and + PTs, the line going from the valvecover to the airbox needs to be filtered to prevent dirt from getting back into the engine (I believe that line empties into a sponge in the stock airbox). You probably have seen filters that are 2 inches in diameter that look like valvecover breathers. That's what you will need to filter that line. You don't need an expensive filter like K&N to do the job. Most auto parts stores carry those kinds of filters in all sorts of finishes in their sport compact section. However, some people have reported that the same line introduces oil to the sponge in the stock airbox. That's why I suggested the catch can. You do NOT want oil in the throttle body, for obvious reasons. The catch can will eliminate the oil problem if you decide to hook the line back up to the intake. Otherwise, a breather filter, open to the atmosphere, will be sufficient.
The Volant intake is very throaty, but not overbearing. You will particularly notice the sound at WOT; however, at cruising speeds, there is no objectionable noise. I thought it was a great mod, it's just too bad it didn't work with my Turbo. I did notice a 1 to 2 MPG increase in highway gas mileage with the Volant intake.
