Default Air Intake

Would insulating the air intake box and duct from underhood heat approximate the effect of a cold air intake system? I'm cash strapped and can't really afford a kit. Anybody have any thoughts or experience on this? Thanks.

RedPT,

For the price of absolutly nothing do a search here: http://www.ptdoityourself.net/ and find out how to make your own air-induction unit or how to modify the one you have.

You can go to that site and learn how to make your own for around $40-$60. Be sure to fabricate a way to make your intake stationary or it will eventually bounce and bend the filter as mine did. Here is a picture of the best one at the site. It's by Motor Mike. The first pic is before wrapping, the second, after. Be sure to brace it! At the site go to "PT Guides" and then scroll down to "Under Hood".
