Air Intake

Would insulating the air intake box and duct from underhood heat approximate the effect of a cold air intake system? I'm cash strapped and can't really afford a kit. Anybody have any thoughts or experience on this? Thanks.

You can go to that site and learn how to make your own for around $40-$60. Be sure to fabricate a way to make your intake stationary or it will eventually bounce and bend the filter as mine did. Here is a picture of the best one at the site. It's by Motor Mike. The first pic is before wrapping, the second, after. Be sure to brace it!
