Welcome, Tom - you should post this in the General Tech and performance forum...
Here's "poop" on plugs:
Spark Plugs

Note: There are other spark plugs, like the Denso PT16VR13 or Iridium ITV16, but those spark plugs require a specially machined socket and custom spark plug wire sets to install/remove and work properly. In other words, the spark plugs were not designed for use in the PT or 2.4L engine. Lose or crack the special spark plug socket and you will not be able to remove the spark plug. Also, platinum spark plugs are NOT recommended for use in turbo engines.

Champion
Copper - stock # 440 - RE14MCC5 (OEM)
Copper - stock # 470 - RE14MCC5 (supercedes/replaces # 440, but some catalogs list same part #)
Copper - RE16MC (supercedes/replaces RE14MCC5 and new Chrysler recommended gap is .040)
Single Platinum - stock # 3032 (one range colder)
Double Platinum - stock # 7440 - RE14PLP5
Double Platinum - stock # 7570 (supercedes/replaces # 7440)
Double Platinum - stock # 7032 (one range colder)
Note: There is a stock # 3570 listed as marine/truck premium plug, but no further information is available.

NGK
Copper - LZTR4A-11 (supercedes/replaces RE14MCC5 and new Chrysler recommended gap is .040)
Copper - stock # 4306 - LZTR5A-13 (one range colder)
Platinum - PLZTR5A-13 (listed for turbo engine, one range colder)

This list that keeps floating around is a bit out of date.

There are now Iridium plugs that don't require special sockets.
I have been using NGK Iridiums for about 2 years now, the only 'special' tool I needed was a torque wrench that was accurate at the low end of the scale. (Be Very Careful about the alloy heads)

visit http://www.sparkplugs.com for a current what fits your engine

Most Important:
do not get spark plug work done by chrysler dealers
They will overcharge you (of course) but worse:
When replacing the factory plugs, you also have to replace the factory plug wires. In fact the factory WIRES are absolute JUNK, and usually fail before the spark plugs. If you do it yourself, you can buy and install high-quality aftermarket wires (Crane makes a good set, but practially ANYTHING beats the factory wires).
If you take it to a trusted local independant shop, they will get non-factory wires.

If you take it to a Chrysler dealer, they will put in the same Crud Wires that the factory did...

(Of course the advantage of using factory wires is that you don't have to bother with dielectric grease on the plug boots, as you won't be re-using the wires.)

and the most important thing to remember when changeing plugs:
Anti-Seize is your friend.

I have been running standard Champion Plugs (440) in my PT for 6 years now. I have 160,000 miles on the car and haven't had a problem with just the standard plug. The car runs like I just bought it.[8)]
