Default Jolted to stop

When I apply my brakes and my speed is slowed to approximately 10mph give or take, the car acts like it's stalling and drops it's speed dramatically and I feel a sudden jerk I can't tell whether the car jerks forwards or backwards. I feel a sudden jolt as if everything shut down at once. This happens intermitently and typically if the car is cold or when I first turn on the air conditioner.
Has anyone else experienced this issue of a sudden jolt when coming to a stop? It typically happens when I'm slowing the car down to a minimum speed, then the car jerks or jolts before coming to a stop. It's a little unnerving when you're not expecting it.

Any thoughts?

Thank you,
Jetcab

Jetcab,

In a controlled, away from the crowd, environment, Get up to speed, and as you start hitting the brakes to slow down and stop, put the shifter into neutral till you come to a stop. If it's smooth, as least you can tell the "jolt" was in the transaxle changing down to the lower gear. This only works if you have an automatic of course.

Happened to me in my 2001 PT. The dealer had to rebuilt my tranny under warranty. Worked perfect afterwards, then again the car only lasted me another month and a week.

I agree. I am assuming it's an auto problem also - hopefully with the controls and not the auto itself.
