Default Crane Firewire Sparkplug wires

Hey guys. I just got a set of Crane Firewire sparkplug wires from Maggie at Race & Street. It was a non-web published sale. The total was $40, including shipping. There was a misprint on the flyer stating Nology Wires for $40. I thought what the heck. Nology wires cost close to $200, so if I got them and they were BS, I wouldn't lose alot. She told me it was a misprint, and they didn't sell Nology wires anymore because they did nothing in terms of performance. She said you basicily pay for the name, and that the wires were crap. The actual sale was for Crane wires, and she said they (Race & Street) considered them the best wires made for the PT's. I said what the heck, let's try them. They came in yesterday, and the box stated they have only 25 ohms per feet! Nice thick, heavy wires too. I put them on today, not expecting too much. Boy was I wrong! The wires combined with the fact that I regaped my plugs to .45 saturday, give the car a nice added kick now. I can hit 65 mph on a block I normally hit 60. They definately are worth the price! Not to bad for my first performance mod. A cheap and quick extra kick for as much as Bosch or Mopar wires cost. Anyone else try these wires yet?

I haven't tried those, but I did put Magnecor 8.5mm wires on and regapped my plugs to .042. I must say the car pulls like a demon at higher speeds - it jumps from 65 to 100 in no time at all. Obviously I can't say which wires are better, but it sure seems that either set is a definite improvement over stock!

Yes sir'e Mike! The Crane's are 8.5 mm too, so I guess the Crane and the Magnecor are both quality sets.[?] Now you have my interest peaked. I regapped my plugs to .45. Should I regap them to .42 now? I haven't upgrade to Stage 1 yet (I plan to upgrade and get a few mods with my income tax return []), but I must say Junior's wicked fast for a 99% stock car. I appreciate any advice from you since your PT is a demon on wheels! [8)]

Hector at Exhaust Depot had me gap my plugs at .040 before I had stage 1 (had a high rpm miss and solved it) and I've kept that gap throughout all of my performance mods. Love it!

I have the Crane's from Race and Street for close to 50,000 miles now. I put them in after I put in Champion platinum plugs & still had an intermittent miss. Never missed a beat since.
I do believe that all you get from plugs/wires is restoration of what may have been lost from when things were brand new. My feeling with wires in particular is that the resistance of wires creeps up over time. Getting better wires with lower initial resistance means they'll last much longer.[?]

Hey SuGamer, I picked .042 because people were telling me either .045 or .040. Thought I'd split the difference and give .042 a shot! No joke, that's how I arrived at the setting! It's been working great for me, but as you can see from this thread alone .040 to .045 seems to work just fine. I have not tried regapping at the track to see if it makes any difference. I'd say stick with what works for you.

GR8FLPT - Stock gap is .050 but with the added boost of Stage 1 things seem to work better with a tighter gap. It does seem that dropping the gap can help even without Stage 1 on a Turbo, and if I remember correctly DCX has even altered spec to a lower gap starting with the '05 models. This may apply to Turbo engines only, not sure, so please don't quote me on this!
