Default Temperamental Oil Light

I recently purchased a 2003 cruiser and the oil light keeps coming on. I've had an oil change but it still comes on once in a while, except, of course, when I bring it to the dealiership, as it's still under manufacturers warranty. I fear the previous owner may not have done regular oil changes. What's my best course of action?

First guess would be sending unit, but it should have given an error code.
Let us know.

I've seen some topics lately about bad oil senders. Also senders that are not making proper contact in the block or wire will throw up a light. I think someone said that the computer has a code for a bad sender. Do a search for "oil senders" on here and also for "codes" to see how to read them.
Most of the time it's something minor rather than major. But by all means stay on the dealer to get it resolved.
