Default Exhaust Cutout

Has anyone installed an exhaust cutout yet? (what used to be called dump tubes) And if so what type, where did you buy it, and how did it work?

Thanks
Jerry

Ralph,

Thanks but these are not what I'm looking for. What I'm interested in is a cutout which gets welded to the exhaust pipe just after the header. When one opens the cutout (for drag racing) the catalitic converter and the muffler get bypassed and one gains horsepower and torque.

Thanks
Jerry

JCWhitney sells them. It's a Y pipe with a cabled lever

I think you will find your engine will run worse with a cutout. You will drive the PCM crazy because it will try to compensate for the open exhaust if it doesn't like what is happening it will shut down the fuel and ignition. I doubt a cutout will work like they did on older cars This ain't your fathers Oldsmobile

I recently purchased and installed the E-Cutout from DMH Products. All I can say is "awsome". The e-cutout is an exhaust cutout that installs right behind the catalyic converter. With the old cutouts used on hotrods you used to have to get under your car with a wrench and open them up. The beauty of the e-cutout is that all you have to do is hit a switch on your dash that opens and closes the cutout electrically. Even though I have a Magnaflow catback exhaust system I never really liked the four cylinder sound. Now whenever I want it I have the sound of a V8 with a cam. Truly remarkable. I also get a little more horsepower and tourque by my "seat of the pants" estimation. Here's the URL of DMH Performance if any of you are interested in an awsome sounding PT.
