I run Amsoil 0W-30 in all my turbo cars, with their filters.

If you run synthetic you can easily go 7500 miles on the oil and filter, no need to dump it every 3000 unless your always doing very short trips.

Did a search for Amsoil after my mechanic recommended it to me, just to be sure he knew his stuff. The website has some great graphs comparing it to all the others, I'm gonna use it fer sure. Also, when using their filters, they CLAIM you can go 25,000 mi if you change the filter at 12,500 mi.. I think I'll won't go near 10,000 mi per filter, I'll change every 6 months instead. Kinda pricey from the mechanic, $64.95 plus extra for the filter. Going to find the oil and filters online and do it myself.

I have no doubt the oil is good, but there is something about Amsoil marketing that reminds me of the Amway soap game, and Tupperware, and other pyramids. I wonder how those charts would read if produced by Mobil or Castrol?

You can sign up for a preffered customer account and order directly
from them and save some money. Yes their oil isnt cheap and they direct market, but how else would you market it? I have used it for 20 years back when no one used synthetics and all the petro oil makers bashed it (other than MObile), funny now how all have jumped on the bandwagon for synthetics. Note many of the oils "labelled synthetic"
are not true synthetic, just Group III dino, highly refined and ridicuosly priced for a dino(4.99$ per qt castrol syntec comes to mind).

To me Mobile 1, Redline and Amsoil are your best bets. I use the Amsoil because I have a track record with 5 other turbo cars and extrended drains and no issues.

OK I just bought Mobil 1 5W30 (New Car formulation) based on what U have said. Let U know how it goes. Sure hope I get same performance just with a hair better mpg!!

It's labeled "Truck & SUV" but started life as Mobil Delvac 1 heavy duty synthetic oil. I've seen it in Wal Mart and it will provide better hi-temp protection than any 5 or 10W-30. By the way, running 10W-30 over 5W-30 just decreases fuel mileage and takes that little bit longer to flow to the bearings on a cold start (even on 45 degree Texas mornings!).
