Default Synthetic oil

Just wonderin'. When I take my cruiser out of hibernation this spring (8 degrees rite now!), I want to change the oil. I noted that Saki and Crewzin use Mobil 1 synthetic. Any advantages? Have you used this type from day one and what weight would you use (10W-30 or ...?) same frequency of changing, say every 3K? Thanx for the input. Now I got to get back under the covers!!!

I use Mobil 1 in all my cars from day 1, and anyone with a Turbo should be using it. Advantages? Supposedly you might see a little more MPG. The big advantage is that you can go further between oil changes....but I don't, still changing every 3K. It also gives you better protection in extreme weather or under load (if you tow anything). You could lengthen the oil changes to 5, 6 or 7K and still feel protected. Some reports say you can go a heck of a lot longer...but I sure wouldn't. The disadvantage, of course, is that it could cost you around $5 a quart ($4 if you buy it in bulk from Wal-Mart). Oh yea, I use 5W30 all year round down here.

I use Mobil 1 every change. Once I went about 4k between changes and the oil was black. So I change oil every 3k.

I have to agree with Crewzin. Mobil 1 is the only way to go especially
on a turbo charged vehicle. I dont think that it is a coincedence that all of your higher end vehicles not only recomend it they DEMAND that it is the only oil you use.

Crewzin you are right on the money about buy it in bulk from Wal-Mart
they are even cheaper than Costco and even Sam's

Dido here! Mobil 1 is great. I also pay extra ($12) for a K&N oil filter. It's a really good, heavy, structurely hard oil filter. It worth the extra 6 to 7 bucks.

Anyone use Amsoil ? One of my neighbors is
a dealer, and hes been asking me to try it.
I usually go to one of the quickie lubes. I
don't know if they'd change it for me or not.
Its kinda like bringing your own meat to McDonalds.

Fwiw....
I've been a diehard Mobil-1 fan for both cars and motorcycles for years. On a road trip last Fall I couldn't get M-1 so went with Castrol SynTec instead. You guys need to try this stuff! It seems much more slippery than M-1. The idle jumped up a little and the engine seems to get it's revs quicker.
