Matt,

All that is, is the original cover on the OEM air filter box which I painted and cut the sides off. I couldn't use the whle box as I had the aftermarket filter. That striped cover just sat on top of the battery to cover it up during shows. It would come/fall right off if the car was moved as it's not fitted/tied/glued down at all.

There's all kinds of aftermarket dealers selling battery covers. Here's a couple of them for you:

Got mine from second vendor on above list and I like it! When I first looked into covers they were like $100 so these new ones while not much to them they do look nice in the engine compartment and cover that ugly battery!

Gonzomania,

You are trying to use the Volant intake on a 2002 1/2 and up PT. The kit was meant to be used on 2001 and some 2002 PTs that had the PCV line that emptied into the rubber intake tube after the stock filter box. You need to make sure that one of the two holes on the Volant intake tube is plugged (the lower hole that is out of sight). The PCV line can be capped with a small gauze filter (K&N type) like those used for breathers.

Depending on where you live and the local emissions laws, this may be an acceptable route. If not, you could extend the PCV line to the aforementioned plugged hole to tie the PCV line into the intake system and remain "emissions legal." However, I would highly recommend a catch can (a simple portable air compressor water separator will suffice) to catch the oil vapor before it enters the throttle body.

BTW, did you get the kit from "02Cruizer?"

Yes I did. I tried getting instructions from Volant but without any luck. There is a plugged hole in the intake tube, should I remove the plug and install the hose there? I don't have a turbo and never had any oil in my OEM box at all. I purchased a piece of 1/2" rubber hose cut it about 4" long and attached a breather filter to it. What are your thoughts on that,or should I try to keep contacting Volant by phone?

Gonzo,

Did the hose plug somewhere into the air filter housing or tube running into the throttle body before you took the OEM filter out? If it did, there's no reason not to run it into the plugged hole of the Volant filter. I think the turbos are the only ones seeing the oil in the air box so I wouldn't worry about it getting into your TB.

Thanks Carey,
I'm going to call Volant tomorrow and will post results. Sometimes I can make things more difficult than need be.

I called Volant yesterday and Tech dept. emailed me instruction with drawing. I understand now what the other plugged hole is for and how to hook it up.

A nice Optimum red-top http://www.1st-optima-batteries.com/ would solve the 'ugly battery' problem.
