Default What's Goin on With My Cruiser!

For the second time in three months, my PT has gone down to the dealer for repairs. The first time, the car started to shake and studder like crazy - then the check engine light came on. Turned out to be a bad spark plug. Now three months to the day, i go to start the car and its shaking like crazy!! again! except this time its shaking hard enough to rock the car back and forth! still waiting for the dealer to call me back. The car is a 2004 touring with 6200 miles on it.

anyone know what is going on! [:0]

Bet it's ignition again. Express dissatisfaction to dealer, and see if you can wangle a set of Champion platinum plugs and have him put in a new set of wires.

The factory uses Champion copper plugs, Legion was suggesting that they put in the Champion Platinum plugs.

...And the Champion double platinum plugs are found on the dealership parts shelf, right next to the PT copper plugs.
Duh!
The double platinum plugs you need are factory installed in the Caravan 3.8L engine.

They have no leg to stand on.
The double platinums are shown as an acceptable alternative in their own spark plug catalog.

I worked long and hard to get the DP plugs available for the PT. I will not stand by and let some uneducated, uninformed dealer parts room monkey tell anyone otherwise.

MX-5 Could you please clarify for me?? I was led to believe that Platinum plugs are Not recommended for the Turbo.

Correct. Legion says Touring edition, therefore assumption is non-turbo (altho it could be a turbo lite in '04).

i have a touring, non turbo. Since i have gotten the cruiser back - no more shaking. BUT, i still get a periodic "miss." as the engine idles, it almost sounds and feels like it missed a beat for only a half second. brought it back to the bright bulbs, and they are telling me its normal. a second dealer (almost 20 miles out of the way) told me the same crap! i know my car, and i know that that miss was not there.

BTW: on double platnums - i asked them before hand if they could use double platnums - both said no. only could use the oem plugs. both dealers told me that they can "upgrade" but the want around 200.00 dollars for labor and i need to go get the plugs myself!!!! theives, the whole lot of them!!!!!!!
