Default 01 vs 02 Gearing?

My wifes 01 Auto turns an indicated 2900rpm at steady 75per, my 02 Auto turns an indicated 2750 rpm at steady 75per. Both have the same size touring edition tires set at 35psi. I have been told that the final drive gearing is supposed to be the same for the automatic equipped PT's. My 02 also seems to downshift more often and sooner on long upgrades. The published final drive ratio for the 01 is 2.694/1 overall. Does anyone know what it is for the 02? Could this be a problem with the computer?

As far as I know there was supposed to be a change in gearing between '01 and '02. This was in response to cunsumer complaints about mileage. I don't know the actual specs but I'm pretty sure this took place. If so it would explain why your revs are lower and it downshifts more.

According to PT Do It Yourself.net the only gear change from '01 to '02 was with the 5-speed ...

"On the 5-speed changing the overall final gear ratio from 3.20 to 2.80 increased the EPA rating. All transmission gears remain the same."
