P0340 is an erronous code... It can cause long crank and no start conditions/ and MIL illumination...there is a tsb for the P0340 and about 14 others all being long crank/MIL illumination on the same TSB 18-026-03 Rev A. It should be covered under your warranty. Where are you located I may be able to reflash it for you if your close...?

That TSB covers the PT with the P0340 code built on or before 9/25/02

I live near New Smyrna Beach Fl. Where are you? I get the long crank. Usually if I shut the key off and do a ten count it will restart. I also get a single miss at highway speeds that brings up the code and the check engine light. Will a reflash clear this problem?

I live in Michigan... Flashing the controller to the next software level will correct this problem.

I highly doubt the flash will fix the misfire though.... just the long crank...

I did some research for you... what you are describing sounds like its going to fall under a different tsb... the one I stated earlier will ONLY apply to the 03 model year (sorry about that). Here is some better info for your model year.

If the vehicle is hard or slow to start and crank time is over 4 seconds. This may be due to contamination in the fuel pressure regulator inside the fuel pump. There is a new fuel pump module which has a internal screen to the pressure regulator that prohibits contamination. There is a tsb for this as well...

You may want to check the Chrysler website as well:

http://www.chrysler.com/owners/index.html

Go to "recall" and then add the last 8 digitsof your VIN to see if there's a record of all the recall and TSB service perfomed on your car.

OK I had the PCM reflashed and I got a repeat of the problem and the code the next day. Saturday I put in new wires and plugs and pulled the sensor. It had oil build up behind it,maybe from a leaking seal. I cleaned up the sensor and the cam end up and it ran for 3 days before I got it again. I recleaned the sensor today and we'll see how far it goes. I am going to pull a used sensor from a wrecked Cruiser(save money) and see if it solves the problem. I think, though, that the oil is acting like an insulator between the magnet and the sensor. Thanks for all the input, I'll keep you posted as I figure this out.

OK I left on vacation on 6/30. I had one sensor hit about 150 miles out. I bought a new sensor in Georgia and installed it I didn't have anymore problems after that. I drove up to West Virginia and back to Fla with no problems. Thanks for your help.

Sounds like you got it. And with new plugs & wires, you should be good for a while. [?]
