Default Screamin' Demon Ignition Coil...
hey everybody! I may have a new name but i'm a long time cruiser, since 04-00 and still cruisin'... now i have a question..


has anybody installed one and whats experince do you have I am just about ready to change my plugs and wires on my '02 PT and also wanted to put in a Screaming Demon Ignition.Coil in with Live Wires & with double platinum plugs... I need opinon's

It's a straight forward R&R. Buy some di-electric grease and apply a "thin coat" on all the connectors and boots. Also don't forget to use anti-seize on the spark plug threads. Set the spark plug gaps at 0.040 and that's about it.

To add a bit on info....the stock coil is putting out more than enough voltage for the stock PT ignition. Unless you've done some extensive ignition and power upgrades, like rszappa1 has said, your wasting your money.

I've got both the Screamin' Demon coil and Livewires with stock spark plugs regapped to .065. The car runs great but I can't tell you how much difference they made because I had Stage 1 installed at the same time.

.065! Wow, I think that gap is WAY too big! The Screamin' Demon only produces alittle more voltage than stock. I got my plugs gapped to .040, and I gotta tell you, along with my other mods, I can do a burnout at 30mph, and the jump from 60-100 is scary!

The SRT4 folks have experianced coil failures with aftermarket coils. The general consensus is to keep the stock coil.

If you want to ignore that fact, then you should carry your stock coil and tools with you so you won't be stranded when it does finally fail.

Boy, that would tick me off. I have been saying another coil won't hurt, but won't help, either. Now it can hurt!![xx(]
