CREWZIN, did they buy the V6 version because it gets better mpg? Car manufacturers are coming out with all kinds of fast models now and it seems that Taurus would be a bit on the slow side.

MG,
I believe the Taurus only came with a 4 cylinder and a 6. It's plenty fast enough for the job that needs doing. The Public Service Officer doesn't get involved in high speed chases and they only thing we need a little speed for is a serious crash that we need to respond to, because the deputies, EMS and Fire would also be responding at the same time. Our job would mostly be traffic control.

The 08 Taurus only come with a 269 HP V6. I own one it has plenty of off the line torque and power, extremly roomy.

A better car. Tricky. Better for what. It's (Taurus) certainly better for speed and pickup and smoothness, but my PT is lowered and 8 years old with half the power. The PT could hold twice as much cargo. The Taurus has a heck of a powerful/easy power steering and turns quick without any effort, you know about the PT. Maybe a newer PT would do better than mine.
Take the Sheriff's graphics off and it's a plain jane run of the mill type of car. The PT will always stand out as being different ,,,, I like that. Not sure of the gas mileage of the Taurus, I don't pay for it or take notice. To your original question....better MADE. Can't compare an 8 year old cruiser with 95,000 miles with a brand new (now 2,035 miles) Taurus. A new car will always win out, even still has the new car smell. Both have their own good points.

It would but the list price is $37.000. After saying that, our department just shelled out $36,000 for the 422hp V8 2010 Camaro (yellow with black stripes) and they are putting graphics all over it to use as a show car for school programs.
