Is the piece of pipe that fits in the hole above the fender well just for support? It looks like if it was plumbed thru, the filter would be by-passed.

Dalite, read the opening post of this topic. This filter type has an opening on the small end with a cone filter in it. It filters air from around it's circumference as well as the bottom. Double the bang for your buck.

HEY GUYS, WHAT DO YOU THINK OF A SNORKEL SCOOP HOOD, TO DRAW THE COLD AIR INTO THE EXISTING AIR BOX. DO A MINI SNORKEL THAT COMES UP OUT OF THE HOOD MAYBE 7 INCHES AND FORCE THE AIR THROUGH A CHANNEL FORM ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE HOOD TO CHANNEL IT OVER THE AIR BOX. I THINK IT WOULD LOOK VERY COOL WITH THAT, AND VERY ORIGINAL. YOU WOULD GET ALL THE AIR YOU WOULD WANT AND AND IT WOULD BE THE COOLEST AIR YOU COULD GRAB TOO. LET ME KNOW, THIS IS WHAT I HAVE IN MIND TO DO TO MINE. BEEN CHECKING OUT MINI SNORKEL SCOOPS ON THE NET, FOUND A COUPLE OF THEM THAT ARE SHORT AND NOT TOO TALL. THANKS....

The upper tube has a hose barb on it just for that purpose.

I have the same intake, except mine takes off the stock piece that connects to the turbo and replaces it will a chrome tube. This is the way to go if you want that full turbo sound!!!

You can also run a 21/2" piece of flexible heater duct hose from there, down to the opening beside the driving light. He claims with the flex hose setup that you can gain another 1 1/2 to 2 psi of boost due to all of the fresh cold air coming in.
Dalite says the only possible downside about using the inlet by the foglight is that the inlet was designed to cool the calipers and rotor for the front brakes..

Mean Green, I really don't think that would be a factor. Maybe if you were to run your car in some type of road or rally race and would be doing a tremendous amount of braking.

Higear4, yours is the 1st one I have seen that replaces the tube to the turbo. Where did you get yours? That is the piece that really needs replacing more that even the stock airbox if the silencers are pulled out.
