Sorry Ote, didn't mean to ruffle any feathers. I guess some people don't rush to judgement. Just trying to keep people from spending a lot more money for something that accomplishes the same thing. Jim is just trying to make a livin'like everyone. Its hard to compete against those mega companies out there that are swallowing all the little fish up.

No problemo Phil, I am all for the little guys in the world and get no wet dreams over brand names. My only stipulation is to know that what's in the package is what I paid for and it will hold up. In jim's ebey add one pic had what looked like a K/N filter the other a paper cone filter. Jim cleared that up for me. He also cleared up monetary questions...I was reading two prices 170 and 270 and Jim's ebey add really didn't say what was what. He cleared that up for me too. My whole intention on posting his email's to me was to have the answers come directly from the man himself. As for the workings of this product, I had know idea that it went through the fender wall and had an inner part to the filter until you and others posted to this forum. That is what convinced me about this guy and his product, plus his honest emails to me.

However, it still is not a CAI system, since the majority of the air still comes through the greatest surface area available, which is the outer cone, which residing in the engine bay . . . an engine bay that is definitely not cold. So with no actual dyno results (other than louder sound and seat-of-the-pants dyno (which is greatly affected by optimism and louder engine roar)) how is this really any different than a cone filter resting above the fender 'hole'?? Or did I miss something in the design?

You have a valid point concerning the air thats being drawn in around the filter, as well as coming thru the snorkle. It still has to be better than the factory box due to improved air flow, and uncontaminated with oil residue.
By uncontaminated I am refering to the air/oil mix that is drawn into the stock box due to a vacuum caused by the turbo, even though relatively slight.
A hose run off the snorkle to a fresh air source would be an advantage to this system. Which was discussed earlier in this thread.
You could even take it a step further and make an aluminum shield to wrap around the filter itself in conjunction with the snorkle hose set-up. Just an old hotrodders opinion.

Once you have the airbox out, if you look below it you will see daylight. I am thinking of fabricating some sort of snorkle to run down there to the vent by the driving light. I know everyone says that is to "cool the brakes" but really, who is driving these cars at 10/10nths all the time like they were at the Buttonwillow or something. This vent is more show than go. At least they didn't block it off and paint it black. I am going to try to run a line up to the bottom of the stock box (cut holes) and vent cool air in that way.

I just received my air intake from Jim in Florida this morning. It looks well constructed, but time will tell. I'll be putting it on tomorrow morning and will post an update of how the installation went as well as some pictures of the end result.
