If the concern is over a cold air intake, keep this in mind...

Any system that increases available air volume is an improvement.

On the turbo, that air is compressed in the turbo, and the byproduct is heat. It is "conditioned" by the Charge Air Cooler (intercooler) before reaching the throttle body.

I have re-located my overhead console temperature sensor to the airbox opening, and have the silencers removed and a K&N Drop-In filter. I mention the silencers/K&N to indicate that I am probably getting the best airflow possible with the airbox in place. The temperature of the air entering the airbox (as indicated by the overhead console display) is seldom over 5 degrees hotter that outside temperature; as long as there is motion. Even with a CAI, there is no benefit when the car is at rest.

On a non-turbo, the CAI is definately a dual advantage; one for the increased volume and another for the colder air entering the throttle body. However, on the Turbo model, the benefits of the Cold Air portion are much diminished by the final product produced at the throttle as a result of the heat from the turbo compressing the air, and the final temperature which is determined by the intercooler (Charge Air Cooling System).

Food for thought... In looking at some data logging systems that allow you to download the software and play back previously recorded data I have seen actual intake air temp on a supercharged engine range from 14 degrees below zero (fah) to above 140 (Fah). Again, this is the air that is first treated by some kind of Charge Air Conditioning unit when the turbo (exhaust driven SuperCharger) is in the equation.. I can't tell what period of time the data came from, or what the region and weather had to do with it, but it looks like the temp is not so much of a controllable factor on a turbo charged engine as a non-turbo one...

Installed the intake from Jim in Florida this morning. It went on easy and took me less than 1/2 hour. I can really hear the turbo and the factory surge (BOV) valve now. The "seat-pants" dynometer says I picked up some ponies too. I'm happy so far.

I got my turbo up intake from Jim Barnes out of Florida today. Took me about 30 minutes to install it. I love it! My wife says my GT sounds like a jet plane taking off now ( she does exaserate as it isn't that loud). You do hear the turbo and the BOV now. I looked at the factory rubber pipe and there would be no way to remove that third silencer. My GT does feel faster now. I took it out on some country highways and opened it up. What a rush! [|)]
