Thanks RedGT...I see the diff. Mine is uptight and outasight like yours was. They want to paint only the ends of the lower body panel, not the actual "bumper"...I'd almost rather have a bit of pealing and use touch up than risk mismatched panels tho...

'05 GT w/autostick. 3500 miles......always use "toptier" premium from QT. A/C is on all the time(supposed to be 112' tomorrow)....when I put my foot in it on the highway(cruising at 80, punch it up to 95/100), it pings. Around town under heavy stop light acceleration, no ping. Normal?
My 2004 5-speed has been pinging under medium acceleration at low rpm since Day One. Back to Chrysler three times. Twice they said there was no pinging. Third time I went with the tech who heard and recorded the ping. He claimed all 04s did that. We took a new car off the lot, and it pinged. He said he'd take it up with the ECU people at DC, but I never heard back form them. So I learned to avoid that rpm range.

Then I got into occasional drag racing and found that MMT octane booster eliminated the pinging. According to a test in one of the car mags, it increases octane from 91 to just over 93. Definitely works for me. So whenever I go racing, I use a can. I am not a great racer, but got a nice 14.7 last night at Sacramento Raceway (the SRT4s all did 14.1 to 14.5s).

What are your plugs gapped at? My '03 GT never pinged on 91 which is the highest I can buy.

Pinging isn't a good thing and can never be considered "normal".
What about the knock sensor - that's what it's supposed to do, retard timing to prevent pinging.

I know. Knocking is bad. According to the tech, my knock sensor works fine. And my computer works fine as well; pinging occurred at the same spot both with the stock PCM and the Stage 1 PCM. Still, after dropping my car off for a day at that 5-Star Chrysler dealership THREE TIMES, I just had enough. It aggravates me too much to know in advance that I'll get back there and they claim there is no problem. Or that the tech will acknowledge the problem and then never get back to me. Maybe I'll get the PPQ and see if I can tune the PCM myself to get rid of the knock.

And maybe I should take another look at the plugs. I replaced them with Iridiums which cut down the pinging a bit, but it's still there.
