My windshield washer lights are small, (but they are blue) so they only added 15 HP.

OK Folks - Lets get serious again - I have been using K&N filters and Air injection kits on my last two Cruisers. My son - 2000 Ford F-150 - has been reading on his forum that some guys are finding dirt in the air tubes going to their injectors meaning, the filters, (Oiled), are not doing a good job of filtering out the smaller particles of dust/dirt. I have not checked for dirt in mine tubes yet but has anyone heard these reports. I find it hard to believe but what have you heard, if anything.

Not sure what you are saying here. Do you mean that they are finding stuff in the intake plenums? There are no "air tubes" going to the injectors, only fuel. I have been running various configurations of K&N's on different cars for years and have never found dirt in the intakes. If they are, they have other problems. K&N's are used regularly in desert racing that has a lot more available dirt than they are going to find on the road. Additonally, I am sure someone, somewhere would have come up with this problem before your son's friends made this discovery. I suggest they tighten the worm clamps on their intakes. I am not a fan of the "my son's friends, brother's uncle knows somebody that had a problem" type of reporting.

To anyone else who was interested on the reports -- MY SON WAS READING -- Just checked my air tubes and and there was not a hint of dirt in the air tubes. They were as clean as they were from the factory. Didn't think they new what they were talking about! ! ! ! [:I]

FWIW, I used to race dirt bikes. The paper filters that were supplied with the bikes back then would quite often need to be shaken out during the course of a real dusty enduro because they had plugged up so much. Also, I would have a fine coating of dust stuck to the sides of the intact track. The K&N filters I used to replace these with would not plug up and would also have much less build up. I later started using oiled foam. These worked as well as the K&N from a air flow standpoint and there would be vertually no dust on the intake. That being said I have 14" round open element K&N on my truck. I have never seen any dust on the inside of the lid or base. I also have a two stage oiled foam 14" open element on my Barracuda and it's as clean inside too. I believe the oiled foam is better than a K&N but on a road car, especially with the stoick air box the K&N is perfectly acceptable.
FYI, I just purchased the Accel Equivalent to a K&N from Jegs for $29.99 (p/n 110-KP2539)for my PT.
