Default MBC installed... observations and questions.

I finally installed my TurboXS standard manual boost controller.

Here is how my vehicle is reacting. Seems a little different than what I expected.

If I go part throttle it will still boost up to 5-7 psi. I thought from reading the other posts it would jump straight up to 10-11 psi even at part throttle.

If I go full throttle it will boost up to 10-12 psi and hold it for the most part. Some times it will jump to 10-12 psi then back off down to 5-6 psi and feel kind of weird. If I lose traction will the computer back off on the timing and cut some boost? If I take traction control off it's much more likely to boost to 10-12 psi and hold it in that range.

I don't get any spiking above 10-12 psi. In fact it will boost to 5-6 psi and then increase rapidly until it hits the 10-12 psi range then hold there. This seems backwards from what other people have reported. They spike then settle down. My boosting seems much more controlled? Is this because the autostick pcm manages application of boost differently?

Just for reference without the MBC I would hit around 5 psi, manually go up to about 9 psi then come down and hold around 7 psi. So I have seen a decent improvement I'm just wondering if the behaviour is normal.

When it's boosting up to 10-12 psi and holding it it feels great.

Oh yeah I almost forgot if I overboost the computer will trap it right? I'm a little anal about these things and would hate for my boost gauge to be slightly off and be overboosting.

I think I've made about 3 turns or thereabouts.

On the second stage of the dual controller I am running at 12-13 psi
(+ or - depending on throttle position) I have backed off 3 & 3/4 turns. The last 3/4 were adjusted 1/4 turn at a time with some test drive time included between adjustments. It still spikes momentarily @ 15-16 psi, but it is momentary and I have not gotten any codes yet. After 2 1/2 turns the adjustment range (boost gain per 1/4 turn) is more evident. I am going to operate here for a while and see if i get any codes. If so I will back off 1/4 turn at a time and test each adjustment thoroughly before continuing. The feeling I get is that now I am at the ragged edge of the compramise between performance increase and code generation by the ECU. The EGT gauge does run higher at higher boost, but it seems to me to still remain in the safe operating range. The performance is excellent. The turbo seems to recover better on transition from Boost to Vac and back to Boost again since I installed the HKS SSBOV yesterday, but that is just a first impression. More testing needed, but the BOV seems to be a good investment if you are going to run boost that is higher than stock. Since installing the TurboXs boost controller, even at a completely stock setting (adjustment Screw Completely in - clockwise) the turbo spool up time is quicker even if the boost is not any higher. This makes it worth my investment for that reason if for no other.
