For those of you who have had lowering springs installed...how much was the labor to install?? I've been quoted around $200+!! Is this right?
Thanx[8D] |

Drew,
Sounds kind of expensive to me. I don't have a turbo, but it should be the same. The rear springs are really easy, you could almost do it yourself...just a couple of bolts to undue. The fronts need special tools (spring compressor etc.). I never needed a new alignment after installing my Eibach's but some owners say they did...did your shop include that in the price? Shop around and explain how easy the rear spring replacement is and try and get a better price. My $.02 worth. P.S. I was quoted $120, but when they found out how easy and fast the rears went on they dropped the price to $80. I've also had other cars worked on at that shop so they knew me. All four springs took less than 1/2 hour.

Thanks for the info. That price didn't include an alignment. I think I could do the rear myself with a friends help.....then get the front done at a shop.
I plan on going with Eibachs too. |

FWIW, most of the chain auto parts stores (i.e., Autozone) have free loaner tools. A spring compressor is one of the tools they typically have. If you are at all mechanically inclined the fronts are quite easy too.
I can change out struts at a leisurly pace in less than two hours , I would think the rears could be done in an hour. I would say you are getting ripped off if they are charging more than three hours labor for the job. I can't see how you could not require an alignment after lowering the front end. I have replaced struts without altering the suspension (i.e., lowering) in the past and marked everything and still had it out when I checked the alignement afterwards.
