Default Muffler change

I'm looking for ideas from fellow GT owners for replacing the muffler. I don't want a "cat-back" system. I'm looking to replace the muffler and add something with dual chrome tips that will give me a little sound improvement. I've already removed the silencers and my K&N should arrive today.

i'm not exactly sure how much of a difference you will see and hear with just a muffler swap....seeing as the stock muffler is pretty good as it is AND it's a turbo car. N/A cars tend to notice big change in sound with just a muffler. But neither F/I nor N/A cars will realize much of a performance gain with just a muffler swap. I would suggest waiting and doing a cat back system...just my 2 cents

Go to www.pt-tuning.com they have a slip-on muffler for the PT. it replaces the stock one but leaves the entire stock tube. I think it is for $225.00

I'm not really looking for a performance gain. I'm more interested in the cosmetic and sound improvement. I'm already happy with the performance.

I can tell ya from exprience, the exhaust note with or without the muffler DOES NOT change a whole lot. You could run a straight pipe from the cat back and hardly anyone would know the difference. I put on the Heartthrob dual 2.5" cat back system and it is barely diff than stock. This is what the wifey says. Just my .02 [8]

Monza advertises a kit for the Cruiser, but it doesn't say if it works on the GT. What is the pipe diameter of the exhaust on the GT? Their kit is listed at 2 1/2"

Race and Street was very busy at Cleveland installing a number of Basannis dual exhausts systems.. They seem to be very good.[8)]

I will agree it is louder but NOT as loud as I expected, sans muffler. I drove mine around the block with no muffler and it wasn''t bad at all.The wifey says it wasn't loud enuf? The part # is the same for any PT from the cat to the muffler. 2.25" piping so the dealer told us.
