Default GT AfterMarket Stuff that I would like to see

1> 3" Downpipe/Exhaust System

2> All metal IC Piping (Both hot and Cold side of IC) with BOV
Flange built in.

The exhausts from Pttuning are nice, but it your running a MBC and want the most performance from your turbo a 3" Downpipe/Exhaust is where it's at.

Matt

Hey Chip - theres a shop in Queens with a mandrel bender that will make any piping you want. Got my exhaust done there - 2.5 cat back w/borla muffler, ractive tip.
They recommended this system, but now i think I should've gone 3".
I wanted straight through, cat back, 2.5, no muffler, but it was too loud.
Too late now though!! At least it was a quality job....
He said around $475 installed for 2.5 downpipe and high flow cat.
2.5 because he said 3 would be a tough fit....HMmm.
Not sure about this guy, he also recommended 2.5 instead of 3 cat back!

He does, however, drive a 2001 Limited with some type of forced induction, cant remember what system though.
Also - I did see an older Vette getting work done, and an classic camaro pulled up on my way out. So they do get hot rod type clients...
If you want their info...I got it from http://LongIslandHotRods.com

My BTG exhaust is great, I was considering the 3" before I bought my BTG, but I was told that the Turbo needs some back pressure for the motor, so I went with the stock 2.5. I don't regrete at all, I have put 10,000 miles on the car[8)]

Chipmunk,

Talk to Hector at Exaust Depot. They were doing some R&D with a 3" exaust for the PT and the SRT-4.

Turbo charged engines do not need back pressure down stream of the turbo. The less down stream back pressure the great the pressure differntial across the turbo resulting in faster spool up.

I, too, have read the responses from individuals who
have opened up their exhaust systems only to find their
boost levels drop.

Could it be that the back pressure is not required
for the turbo, but to establish the proper harmonics
(fluid dynamics) to more properly scavenge the
exhaust gases?[:I]

One thing seems clear--allowing a turbo motor to
breathe more efficiently seems more complicated than
with normally aspirated vehicles.
