Removed my champions and regapped @ .040 And all is running fine wound out to 125mph this afternoon on an open stretch of deserted highway. Speed was still climbing when I got off of the throttle. The EGT went up to about 1400 and hovered between 1350 & 1400 at wot and that speed (Stage II Boost@13.5 lbs). I think now that I am convinced that the problem is solved (been a number of days with the plugs@ this configuration)

Gearhead you had a post over the weekend with the NGK numbers for normal and the colder plug. What happened to it? Could you please post those #'s again? Thanks!

*UPDATE* Recieved the NGKs today, and the reach on these plugs do not match the champions from the cruiser. I will be calling NGK today to see what the deal is and try to straighten this out. Sorry for the mis-information, I'll post as soon as I clear this up !!! [:I]

The NGK Stock# was 6962 and the plug designation was BKR6E. This plug does not have the thread reach into the head to match the champion plugs currently installed. I am working with extreme motorsports in jessup MD as well as a few other sources to try to clear this up. The reach on the Champions is almost 2X as long as the NGKs listed above. As soon as I get the right info, I'll post it, but I am going to wait and physically verify the plug size, etc.
BEFORE POSTING (I should've done that the 1st time) [xx(] Alan |

Good luck...I bought the "wrong" ones ,too from Advance Auto this morning . Went back gave them the 5306 number ,they called NGK got a real # LTZ4-11 but are unable to order for me. I pulled the champions and re-gapped down to .040 .

Let's try this:
Stock Champion **** plug is RE14MCC5 (stock #440). The Double Platinum replacement is RE14PLP5 (stock #7440). I have those in my car now. Both Champions are a 14mm thread, 1" reach, taper seat, 5/8" hex. Neither of those Champion numbers can be cross-referenced to an NGK number. However, both cross reference to Denso Iridium number ITV16. The ITV16 14mm thread, 25mm reach, 16mm(5/8") hex, tapered seat, 0.4mm iridium electrode, tapered cut U-groove ground, resistor, 0.44" gap. If you want to go to a colder Denso plug, the number is ITV20. The Denso's are about $11.99 each.

gsharrock how's the double platinums running in turbo ? I know that MX5 who designed the plug had stated that it wouldn't be a good choice for turbos/sc cars to run. That's why I didn't even try the doubles in my turbo although I'd had good luck running them in my na cruiser.
