Default Turbo Timer Install Question

I installed my Greddy Turbo Timer tonight and it works fine. However, I would like to connect the parking brake safety circuit just to be safe, since I have a five speed. Does anyone know where I can tap into the wires that go to the parking brake lever switch and what color the wires are? [:I]

well, I tried to connect it to the parking brake but ended up braking the plastic piece of sh*t conector, only to find out that it didnt work with the greddy timer due to the fact that it needs a 12 Volt signal when the parking brake is released for it to shut down.

My fix was to connect it to the brake light switch connector. Mine is an automatic and you need to press the brake to move the stick from parking. It works great there. The connector is very easy to remove and tap into. If you want to go with this, tell me and I will tell you what cable to tap into.

Is your timer adding up time? mine stays in the setting that I give it. I think it should be adding time every time that the engine revs over 3000 RPM... I don't know if it is that i did something wrong in the setup or if it is damaged.

Ian

Ian,

Thanks for the update. My is a 5-spd.

I'm not running the Greddy in the "auto" mode, I just set it for a 3minute countdown. I was confused how it would "know" when the engine was over 3k rpm with only a 3-wire hookup into the ignition wiring.

Good thought Ian. Oh, wait, Hector has the Blitz which I think varies the time based on boost level and time engine has been running.

Hector has them both installed in his prototype SRT-4 or has worked with both of them.

I had the greddy initialy. Actualy beleive it or not but the greddy unit actually senses alternator speed if I recall. Thats how it counts up. There is also an extra wire on it that you can hook up to the speed sensor if you want to make full use of the greddy unit. THe problem is finding where this speed sensor signal is at.

The blitz unit senses pressure which is good, cause it senses a load on the engine so it starts counting up from there. It also senses alternator speed. There is a small AC signal in the 12v DC power in the car.

I did not install the brake wire on my srt because the center councel was a pain in the but to get too. Its more of a safty feature for the 5 speed cars. On the auto you really dont need it. On the stick shift, just make sure your wife of the vally guy does not park it in gear. Then again, its not like you need to here in FL, we have no hills.

I hooked up both the speed sensor and the parking brake wires tonight. The speed sensor wire is white with an orange stripe and is one of three wires in a connector on the front of the 5spd transmission on the drivers side. I connected a wire to it using a crimp-on connector. I didn't have to completely remove the center console to connect to the parking brake switch. I removed the 4 screws and raised the console enough to remove the connector from the micro-switch and attach a wire with a crimp-on splice. Now I have full functionality of the Greddy and the safety of the parking brake interlock. It's all good!

The white with orange wire is the same one on the srt. Guess thats good to know.
Only thing is that our ecu is mounted behind hte left headlight. I wish it was as accessable as yours, would have made my emanage install alot easier. Had about 10 wire wires or so for the whole installation tapped into the stock ecu. Came out good, dont think the dealer would notice it.
