...They have the system about ready (even have a part # 140044). They said they have not had a lot of demand so I refered them to this site. I forget to ask about specs for it.
Since I am a big Borla fan from my other cars in the past I have been waiting for this sytem. I hope they check here to guage demand. |

Are you talking about a dual exhaust? If you are, I'm interested. I just need to know the price so I can start saving my shekels.

I'm interested as well.
Also...do you have any pics of your GT with the H&R springs installed? Thanks! [^]

I hope they include Dyno results for both the Automatic and 5 Speed models.
Chrysler has offered a Borla-made performance option exhaust system in the past. Your relationship with your local dealer may save you some bucks on the selling price, as well as on shipping. FWIW, check the pipe size on the inlet from the original muffler and head pipe, as opposed to the pipe size on the Borla. In some cases on the 2002 model, the aftermarket (Borla) used a smaller inlet size on the muffler. I guess this may have been to increase pressure before splitting the exhaust. I can't verify that theory [:I], but a stainless steel exhaust system of smaller diameter is still an exhaust system of smaller diameter [xx(]. No need to pay extra for that, you can get the same results with a 4 pound hammer and beating on the pipe in a few places . |

I really don't have any more info on it. I just spoke with a woman that had to go ask a tech about the status of the system. I have been checking with them about every 6 weeks. All I know is that Borla tunes their systems for the application. If you are thinking that you are going to try to pump 300 hp out of your turbo, you might want to look at another system. If you want a system that will perform well on a stock or mildly modified car, have a million mile warranty, look good and sound good, these are the reasons that I have gone with Borla in the past. This is just my personal preference and I am just passing the info along. I don't work for them or even own stock.
crazy_cruzr, I don't have any pics yet. I have to borrow a digi camera from my neighbor to take lots of pics of the stuff I have done to it. Soon I hope.

The Chrysler-Borla single outlet system that I had on my '02 Limited Edition had a harmonic drone at 2500-3000 rpm (highway cruising speed) that was very annoying. In fact it made driving almost unbearable. The same was true for the Borla muffler on the 1998 Neon R/T. I wouldn't go Borla unless I knew that I wouldn't have a 3-peat of that sound. [B)]

Hey, I am ready, something specifically for the GT. Please let me know the details and when available. I would rather have a single side outlet with twin pipes like one of their systems now, but want the proven turbo exhaust increase. Thanks for checking on this.

Also, the header issue. On the Turbo, the exhaust manifold and turbo are serviced as an asembly. The Service Manual cautions not to remove the turbocharger from the exhaust manifold, as exhaust leaks will result. The Service Manual recommends that the turbocharger elbow be replaced along with the turbocharger/exhaust manifold assembly. This is not to say that it couldn't be serviced by someone competent in exhaust systems. However, it does tend to remove the aspect of replacing the exhaust manifold with a header. The faq at the link above also points out the low end torque sacrifice found when going to a header or larger diameter pipe. The quick spool and low-end response are among the larger advantages of the GT as it comes stock. Eliminating the low end torque in exchange for some near redline benefit will likely limit the fun of driving the GT quite a bit. I don't know what the final solution should be. The sound is vastly important to many. I would like for mine to be a little more assertive in the exhaust sound department. I am leaning more toward a resonator and no muffler; if I can find a resonator of the same diameter of the stock piping. If so, the muffler could be removed and a resonator or straight pipe put in it's place. With the alteration being so close to the actual exhaust outlet, it is likely that it will not alter the exhaust gas flow. Getting the muffler replaced with a straight pipe, or a resonator, and having a chrome tip added (the local shop offered to cut the one off the muffler and put it on the end of the pipe)is probably around $400.00 cheaper than ordering an aftermarket setup, paying freight and having it installed. I am still in the "data collecting" stage. All in All, the stock system isn't as bad as many think; when it comes to doing the job properly to assure the best power curve. Taking advantage of the natural tendacy of the Turbo to quiet the sound before it gets to the muffler, simply eliminating the muffler may be the best approach.. |

The best setup for a turbo car is if you could have an exhaust that tappers. Large at the begining and smaller at the end. When the exhaust comes out of the turbo, its at its hottest temperature. The hotter a gas, the more volume it will occupy, as the exhaust cools down, it will not need as much space.
The stock muffler is baffled and you dont want any chambers in an turbo car. You want a free flowing straight through exhaust system. On one of our fellow supra owners, he is pumping about 1000hp to the wheels. By disconnecting his exhaust and leaving only the downpipe on, he picked up almost 100 hp from this alone! So bigger is better, but honestly, 2.5" system is plenty unless you go over 400 hp.
