Something doesn't seem right - you say it ran okay with old wires & plugs (& plugs at .075!) - yet, putting old wires back on new plugs (at .040) didn't help.
Guess I don't see why you'd have to reduce gap, since it was running okay on old plugs w/ 0/75 gap...
Can't argue results, but I'm puzzled....[:0]

BB,did you check to see if you threw any codes even though there was no CEL? If you checked and there were no codes just for the hell of it before you do anything else reset the PCM (disconnect the battery).

quicksilverdon:
Plugs gapped smaller because everyone seems to agree that the iridiums need a smaller gap than regular plugs. I started at .040 and things got better as I decreased the gap.

You had a great idea! I checked for error codes and got 0108 which is "MAP sensor voltage high". I wonder if something got dinged on the sensor or cable since it's right there by the plugs? I was careful about removing the cable when doing the plugs on the left side but maybe something happened? I'll reset the PCM tomorrow and see if anything changes. If not, does anyone know what the fix is for the 0108 problem? New MAP sensor?
Bill
