After reading these forums, I figured a reasonable way to loosenup the exhaust was with an axle back. I am not looking to push 350-400hp (at least I don't think so) and I would like a better sounding and cosmetically pleasing exhaust set-up. Saw a PT at a sound shop that had a axle back Camaro set-up. Also saw a Magnaflow dual tip exhaust. Apparently the muffler is just a glasspack with two pipes. So i assume that it wouldn't be too loud and that it should be a little freer breathing than the baffled stock exhaust. I like the immediate power when I hit the gas so I don't want a 3" system. Any insights on this setup?

IMHO any axle back free-flow muffler will improve "breathing" of your engine over the stock GT exhaust which has baffles. I like Magnaflow products and their performance exhaust system I put on my GT "does the job" for me. It is completely free-flow, without any baffles so the engine definitely breathes better now. It has a low, mellow, sporty sound which is not too loud.
If sound is of primary importance, you may want to go to a "PT Meet" to see/hear various exhaust systems in order to determine which one you like best--a "cool" sound for one person maybe "noise" to another. Good luck. |
