Default Outside Air for AMX CAI

Jim sent me some pictures of how he routed outside air to
his intake setup. He thought that whom ever bought one of his intakes may be interested in taking it another step.

Thanks phil for your help, this is to add the air duct to your inter fender well for colder air to the turbo. This works for the stock or aftermarket intake.
from any auto parts store,-- heater duct-- it is either 2" or 2 1/2"and comes about 6' long cost from 4.99 to 9.99

first you remove the drivers side front tire, loosen (do not remove) the inter fender well you will see where you can lay this hose from the so called brake cooling opeing next to the fog lite ,you may need to cut the plastic that closes this opening to the opening next to the air intake, push and pull until you have it in place, now cut three small holes in the hose at the first bend going up(this is for water drain) if you have a factory air box it will be about 1 1/2" from the opening under the hood where your air box gets it's air this is also good for a water gap, if you have a amx1397 air intake your gap will be about 1" and i have not gotten any water in mine in 3 years my 01 had the same duct work. i ran test at the inlet of the air filter(amx1397) without this duct work the temp was 117* with this duct work the temp was 81* test was made on two cars at the same time on the same street the temp that day was 83* this is at 45 mph on a shade tree street. on an open street the temp went up 5* also the speed went up to 70 mph. that same day during rain the temp droped to 77* at the inlet. if you need more info e-mail me at amx1397@aol.com
