Just wanted to add a "me too" here. In stick mode she shifts at 6000 on the nose.

I don't know if anyone else has felt it, but I feel when you let it shift at redline in stick mode, it is a much "snappier, faster and harder" shift then when I do the shifting (before redline) or have it in D. Seems like the computer is letting a little more performance out of the engine.

I think you guys have misread stranglove's post about the 3000 RPM statement. I believe he was referring to the RPM's after the shift from redline. That would make more sense to me.

hey strange low are you sure it was a WRX and not a 2.5 RS. They both look the same in general. I've been fooled by them before. Last time i raced a WRX it blew my doors off!!! If it was a WRX that's a KICKASS kill....even if it wasn't it's still fun dumping imports and raising eye-brows...

No way that was a WRX and that he/she was trying. I would believe a story like it was reasonably close but he edged me out by a car length or so but that story no way.....

I highly doubt that anyone here could yet take an awd turbo car from the line if the person that is driving is trying and knows what he is doing. How many of you have experienced an awd launch? If you havent, do yourself a favor and try it one day. Dump the clutch from 6k rpms and your car will squat to the ground and take off like a bat out of hell. To stay even with even a stock turbo awd(most about 200hp), you would have to have a lot more power than he does, really sticky tires, probably an lsd, and you would really have to know how to drive your car. Otherwise, he WILL rip you a new one.

Hey guys sorry if I wasn't clear on my first post. Leaving the transmission in auto stick the engine rpm redlined at around 6,000 rpm, when the rev limiter shifted gears, and the engine rev was around 3,000 rpm, keeps the turbo spooled up. I just noticed that while in drive the tranmission will shift earlier and you begin each gear at a lower rpm. With the auto stick you can let it fully redline to 6,000 rpm and it will smootly shift into the next gear. All you need to do is floor the excelerator and concentrate on where your steering.
As for the WRX I am fairly sure thats what I was racing, he was behind me most of the way. The stop light has two lanes that merge into one lane as you enter the freeway, so I just beat him to the merge and he was stuck behind me until we reached the freeway.

Hehe its kinda funny i was on my way home one nite, on a major highway, were the lights about 1/2 mile apart. A younger gentleman and his wife or girlfriend were drivivng next to me, when he kept speeding up and slowing down. We were coming to a light that was turning yellow and i saw hiim brake heavily to stop so i decided to also. Here i am next to a G35 coupe and the two in the car are pionting and laughing at me.So i looked over and seen him pionting down the road, then laugh, so i shook my head blew his girlfriend or wife a kiss and got ready. When the light changed he got the jump and was a half car lenght ahead of me till i hooked up and the car started pulling. By the time we hit about 120 i was about a 1/2 car length ahead of him. After all the he didnt even stop at the next light he just turned off the exit. It was a great feeling that my grocery getter beat a sports car.
