Default raced a Mitsu AWD-T

was out this weekend and went for a pass with an AWD mitsubishi turbo eclpise. It had exhaust, intake, and boost controller, hks bov. Obviously he had me out of the hole, but by the end of 2nd i had almost a full car and kept pulling till the end of 3rd where we both shut down...[?]
Just like the rest of them..."Is that stock!!??"
He was really cool about it though, he didn't flip out like most of the honda guys i've gone for a rip with

Go get em! My buddy just bought an Infiniti G35 Coupe. 280hp, 270 lb-ft torque, rear-wheel drive, etc. Don't go near them if you're stock.

He respectfully leaves me in his smoke everytime. [B)]

with a boost controller and a couple of other mods under development i'll be going after anything under 300 hp. I'm eventually hoping to be hitting serious numbers eventually.[?]

Thats cool, do you know what year it was? I havent raced my dad yet, but my car is a whole lot quicker. As in mid 13s quick. Then again, the only mod he has is the removal of all intake silencers. Most of us dsmers are pretty cool about taking a loss, we'll give respect where it is due. Of course you will always have the occasional ricer, but its not like the honda crowd, "I got a 6 in tip and stickers, my car will kick your cars ass!"

i believe it was a 2nd gen, ie. no flip up lights. Plus to be honest i don't think the guy really new how to drive his AWD. Most other AWD's that i've ran with launch at very high rpm, i could barely hear this guys engine before he launched... By all rights some one who knows how to drive it would probably "deal with my case"...

I really dont care for second gens. They may look nicer in some peoples opinions, but they came with a sorry excuse for a turbo. It runs out of breath before 6k. Then there is the whole crankwalk problem with the 2gens. I like the 1gen, they look meaner to me.
The thing with awd cars is if you dont launch the thing, its pretty much pointless to race, unless it is some riceboy honda you are racing against. The launch is our advantage, and if you dont use it, you wont get another one as the drivetrain loss is too high. It kinda sucks, I can kill v8s from the line, but from a roll they will eat me alive. Oh well, it is the whole quick vs fast thing.

You guys probably know this, but I thought it might be fun to share. A while back I was stopped at a light when an all frosty tricked out WRX pulled up next to me, reving and lurching; I think 2 Fast 2 Furious released that Firday. Anyways I couldn't resist the urge to floor it and this particular stop light enters right on to the freeway. Green, pedal to the metal when I realized that I had left my transmission in auto stick, gripping the wheel for the first turn, I looked in my side view to see the WRX fadding back, glancing at my rpm about to redline I went to reach for the stick to shift it into 2nd when the rev limiter did it for me, 2nd at 3,000 rpm my head began to pull back as a smile came over me. I kept the accelerator floored and watched the rpm redline again, flying along on the on ramp I could see that the freeway was clear, then the rev limiter kicked in and 3rd gear, again at 3,000rpm, I could hear the turbo screaming as I roared onto the highway at a brisk 100mph. 4th gear finally kicked in as the engine topped out at 120mph and as I looked around for the WRX, he was way behind. I slowed down with my brake lights lighting up the midnite sky as the WRX in utter defeat strolled by in the slow lane, I lit him up with my high beams and he took off. Nothing like a good dose of adrenaline.
These days I'm not so pissed about the rev-limiter anymore I just use it as an extended range of the automatic transmission

your rev limiter kicks in at 3,000 rpm??? I need to check mine, but it doesn't kick in at 3,000...I know that...in autostick mode, if I left it shift itself it shifts between 5,500 % 6,000...

If I have mine in autostick mode it does not shift up till about 6000 rpm. If yours is shifting up at 3000 then something seems wrong.
