Seems as if the engine fan does a great job of cooling the intercooler - it never gets hot while at idle with the AC on (engine fan is on at this time) Perhaps we don't need IC fans after all like I thought and posted a few weeks ago!

I beg to differ on that point if you think having the water temp climb to 215 degrees in traffic before dropping back @ road speeds to 195 is good ?

I'll be picking up a 180 degree thermostat this week. It allows the engine to run just a tad cooler, and it's cheap.

The cooler, the better, my $.02...
Jeff will a fan fit behind the xenon fascia?? No room w/stock. Oh well, looks like i have no choice but to get that R/S front end!! http://www.californiacruisers.com/frontend_cq.htm |

I go along with your reasoning on the lower temp thermostat. However, don't expect it alone to be able to let the engine run cooler temps. The PCM controls the electric cooling fan, and it won't let it/them come on until the temp sensor (or what ever sensor it monitors the water temp with) tells it the water temp matches the parameters set by the original configuration for the stock t'stat. I had made a suggestion to Mopar Performance that they solve the thermostat o-ring replacement question on the Stage I upgrade by including a lower temp t'stat and progamming the PCM to let the fans come on earlier, but I guess that idea was shot down..... Let us know if you see any difference on the gauge or performance with the 180 degree replacement.. |

Huh? What I said was the ENGINE FAN DOES A GREAT JOB OF COOLING THE INTERCOOLER. And it does. P l e a s e do not misquote or twist the reply. Craig

Do you think that a low temp thermofan switch might be more helpful? |

Craig I'm sorry I misinterpreted your post...it's great the fan cools the intercooler ! However it doesn't really stand up to the task of cooling the motor efficiently as I've seen it ! I guess that having the intercooler cool is more important than the engine operating in optimum range ! [:I][xx(] If you really want to know what's going on inside the engine invest in a mechanical water temp gage....you'll be in for some surprises.....
