Re: auto trans
Anything beyond S1 and your tranny is in jeopardy. DO NOT BOOST IN OD. Pull tranny to direct when passing then get off boost and let it shift back to OD. This will help to lengthen the life of the tranny.
I am working with AJ Berge (A&A Motorsports) on a tranny project. AJ has been a tranny specialist for years. He was recommended to me by Garry McIssic(sp) after I lunched a few trannys. AJ knows his stuff,, and more and more folks try something else, then go to AJ. I have seen with my eyes some of the changes done by AJ,,, and they make a lot of sense. My latest tranny has 6 OD clutches. (Stock is 4) AJ is focusing on the OD section as that is the weak link.
I have had 1 stock tranny fail, and 2 "High Performance Power Demon" Trannys.
First PD had the typical "ripping the OD section apart, the second PD blew the OD hub in half, after the first PD Garry was trying to get us, Tommy Thrift (Haynes Chrysler in Richmond) and myself to hook up with AJ. When the second PD went,, Tommy had a tranny from AJ in his warehouse. THAT tranny lasted for 14 months, (Once I went big turbo they were lasting 6-8 months). I had shoulder surgery in March,, so I took the car to AJ and let him play with it while I was recovering. The tranny showed wear,, but still was working fine.
AJ has made,,,,,,something like 15 improvements,,,,, to the original tranny I had done.
If you go to PTCrew.com and search for "transman" that is AJ.
Any other questions I can help with I will.
By the way,,,, I am NOT on the A&A payroll,, I pay for my stuff from AJ,, I do get a slight break,, (because my tranny was the first HP 41TE) but I offer my car to AJ as an R&D test bed. AJ has broken parts while testing with MY car.
I currently have paid AJ WELL OVER $3k for my trans,, but I have helped with 4 different convertors, which are made to AJ's specs,,, but AJ has made for him.
