Default studdering missing shaking question

of all the cases on this site of people ending up needing new plugs / wires, has the check engine light ever came on?

Usually not. Unless the plugs or wires get into the condition to severely affect one of the sensors (plug or wire stops working completely) no code will be set and the only way to tell that's something is wrong is with the symptoms your getting.

sweet. the dealer wouldn't fix the problem under warranty because there was no definate proof (check engine light) that there was anything wrong with the wires. I said "Take it for a drive!!" No good. They'd fix it, but right outta my wallet. Thanks for the help, the new wires get shipped monday. Is .030 a good gap to go with the new plugs? I was thinking Bosch Platinum +2's.

Gap at .030 is too small for the non-turbo. Sorry can't remember the turbo gap right now but I would think .030 is too small for those engine also.

I also don't think your supposed to use Platinum plugs on the Turbo. I just posted something about that on this forum somewhere.

OK found it....read this thread here:

Stalling, rough idle, running "hard", hesitation
