Default Nightmare On Elm (SRT-4) Street

Just reading the SRTforum, a proud owner of a brand new Stage I kit finds that the car won't start or run when the Stage I ECU is plugged in.

Mopar Performance Parts Warranty:
Mopar Performance Parts are sold "as is", without any warranty whatsoever.
The entire risk as to qualityand performance of such parts is with the buyer.

What is the answer in this situation? Do you continue to purchase new kits till one works?
Since the dealerships can't read or repair the new ECU, now what?

We live in a world where there is an inherent trust, a feeling that there is some common bond of credibility, honesty, and pride in what we do. THIS MAY BE A DREAM WORLD!

EVERY manifacturer of ANYTHING knows that there are items called quality control, and error rates. The goal of all is to use the first to get rid of the second. Some do it by rigerous premarket design engineering, others do it by pre sale testing. ALL know that the error ratio will NEVER be ZERO.
One sure way to keep production cost down is to reduce errors(bad product), so as many produced items as possible make it to market and are sold.

!!IDEA!! If you ship EVERYTHING no matter the quality, to the bean counters your productivity goes WAY up!(Until the bad product starts to come back.)
!!IDEA 2!! If you refuse to warrant anything, the bad product dissapears off the books.
!!FINAL!! Since your numbers are stellar, YOU GET YOUR BONUS!!!

I think the unlucky Joe that bought the $400 Stage I door stop now knows what "AS IS" and "WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY WHATSOEVER" MEANS.

Let it go Kirby! We had this horse's funeral already. Dead - gone - buried under this topic:

I'd be willing to bet that if the PCM arrives DOA or is misprogrammed with the VIN, Mopar will make it right.

Looks like the count is up to 4 with dead ECU's. I hope Mopar comes through for them.

I know that there are those who don't want to follow the reliability, and/or the way Mopar takes care of issues, but it is important to some of us. If this turns you off.... you have the power to not read these posts. There are plenty of posts discussing the latest tire etc.
I have an interest because I would like to install the upgrade, if and when I can trust that there is some kind of support for the product.

I feel it is our duty to share any and all product reliability and warranty issues with eachother.

I am aprehensive when anyone BEGINS the support statement for their product with "without any warranty whatsoever" (seems pretty clear as statements go.

If we track the bad product and document the repair or lack therof, it is possible to declare a defacto warranty. Please (everyone)get names and contact data for anyone that has a problem

(Mopar cannot selectively warrant parts for some customers and not for others.)

This is my first, last and only reply to this thread.

Kirby, if you don't like what you see or hear about Mopar's reliability or warranty, then don't get the Stage I. I have been driving Mopar products for the last 30 years and have never experienced any problems like you envision, either with factory warranty or with Mopar off the shelf performance products.

I cannot and will not believe that any manufacturer will sell an item than arrives DOA and will not take care of the customer, in spite of the terminology on the package. That goes for Mopar as well. Instead of parading the problem as done; customer screwed, why not wait until we really find out what happens? Let it go for a while. Your negative attitude really is getting old!

End of rant!

Well hell I agree with Kirby, I'm interested in getting Stage I also, but I would like to hear others pro's and con's about it. In fact this is what a discussion forum is all about. Beyond character bashing, I think anyone that has a gripe should be able to voice it, good or bad. So rant on Kirby.

pro's & con's are one thing...constant MOPAR "bashing" is another, I want to know anything and everything about the stage I upgrade too...BUT...Kirby doesn't have it, how are we gonna learn anything about the kit? Every post on this subject by Kirby is negative....so we know of 4 kits that had a bad computer, one, I have faith that if you receive a bad kit you will be taken care off, two, how many kits have shipped with zero issues (as of today anyways)? I HAVE SAID IT MANY TIMES, I AGREE WITH KIRBY AND HIS OPINION, I JUST FEEL THE WARRANTY/EMISSION/MOPAR SUCKS DOESN'T CARE ABOUT CUSTOMERS AND OTHER issue has been placed deep into the subconscious of all of us....[^]
