Actually, I definitely know what the turbo'd car sounds like with and without a muffler as I've had both a PT GT (muffler) and have a srt-4 (no muffler).

I have a 2005 GT Convertible. The muffler is welded on. Still, I'll probably take a hack saw to it and put on a replacement pipe. (I just can't get past that ugly factory exhaust tip!) Thanks for the post, I can't wait to get at it!

i tried it on my gt autostick with a few intake upgrades - it sounded like crap to me , but i am a bit older now than when i owned my 5.0 with straight h pipes . i can say it is easy to take off/put on stock muffler . the power seemed worse with no muffler , but i also did not reset computer . the noise at wot was embarrasing and should only be expected from a 11 or 12 second car . i could not hear my turbo at all / , but i heard the wastegate . i like the sound of the stock muffler , mellow with some burbles - my gt is also a convert.

I would think it would at least add some horsepower up top, the exhaust would be flowing alot freer. Might lose some bottom end torque but upper under horsepower.

The turbo would spool up a tad bit faster to get to the power a little quicker, but you have all of that restriction elsewhere that you really aren't going to feel it. You have to open all of it back from the turbo on back. Then the turbo will spool up faster, you'll get to the power faster and you'll really notice it.

So what can i do as far as exaust goes to improve power?i know obviously an entire exaust system.but what about some kind of removable thing near the turbo that i can take out when i go to the local track, but that i can put back on when i am ready to go back to street legal?
