Default Hurst Shifter and Turbo 5-Speed

Is there anybody out there that knows if the Hurst 5-Speed shifter from the 01-02 model years will work on an 03 Turbo with the "Getrag" transmission?

I seem to have gotten conflicting reports.

Also, the B&M Short Throw shifter from 01-02 seems to work in the 03 so I can't understand why it would be suggested that the Hurst won't.

I bought an 03 PT Cruiser repair manual on CD from E-Bay and I've looked and looked at the pictures and I can't see any difference between the two shifters.

Can anybody shed some light on this for me? [8)]

I could be wrong... isn't the Getrag a SRT-4 only item? Please forgive if I am wrong.

I realize that you posted a reply to this question on another forum, but It's been my experience that the more people you ask for an opinion the richer and more elaborate the collection of answers becomes.

Once I gather enough responses to make a decision, I'll be posting the results for others to share.[^]

i think there a slight differences in the shaft running from the linkage to the knob, i.e. the chrome part you can see. The difference being the bend that is visible if you pull the boost down. Therefore, the "short throws" will most likely fit. But a "true" short throw probably will not due to the fact that the n/a tranny has R on the bottom right, and the '03 Getrag is top left.
So, if your just replacing the shaft then yes is should work...BUT i'm not 100% sure. Try contacting Hurst by email, they're usually pretty good with info

I purchased the Hurst for the standard trans and with some work it will work. There is only some grinding involved no fab. work. If any one wants instructions PM me and I will walk you threw it. It is well worth the work ,it shifts so nice and is a shorter throw
