As long as Mopar is encouraged by folks buying their products as-is, and willing to sacrifice a $25,000.00 investment in doing so; Mopar/Team PVO/DCX has no incentive to make any effort to stand behind what they put on the market. The only up side to the whole issue is that the number of SRT-4 and PT Cruiser GTs sold, as a percentage of entire yearly DCX production is small enough to keep DCX from removing all warranty on all products in the coming model year. At the present rate, they will probably delay that decision to 2005 or 2006. As soon as they were able to prove to the bean counters that their customers would buy anything they hyped, regardless of the risk issue involved, they entered the next generation of liability free living.. Where we have to pay when we are involved in an irresponsoible act, they have finally found a way to profit from the same act. That vehicle to their higher profit is our acceptance of their lame policy. Welcome to the 21st Century; the "I want it now" solution to the age old concepts of patience and responsibility for one's actions... |

You are probably right in some respects. People that have been around the block know that mommy and daddy won't fix the boo boo when it breaks. I personally have 2 boys looking at me to at least augment their college educations. A major repair job unwarrented would not sit well with that.
I probably look at my PT as more entertaining transportation than a throw away piece of ego. My PT is not a ticket to pick up hot babes, excepting my wife(who I think is still pretty hot). Winning that next stoplight run won't make my day. My day is better focused on what will be there in a year, or five years (like a functioning PT). I also have 3 other vehicles that are more prone to need fixes without my forcing the issue(1 old Mustang, and 2 Porsches). I'm not out of it, I have just already burnt out my headlights before doing stupid things that I don't care to repeat. I know that there is fun to be had, without being had! |

I believe the SRT BOV is the exact same part but might have a diff part #. They will both work.

What I did with my surge valve (stock BOV) was to connect it to the boost source from the Intake manifold, and blocked off the line from the surge valve solenoid (down by the surge valve, not at the solenoid). This insures that the surge valve DOES NOT fight for control of the Boost. This is especially helpful if you have a MBC and are boosting at higher than stock boost. This eliminates any chance that the ECM uses the surge valve in any way to decrease the boost or retard the timing. I got this suggestion from Hector @ Exhaust Depot, and it works well. The ECM still uses the waste gate in an extreme situation (too lean a mixture)to control the boost and exert a fuel cut if it deems it necessary. This is predicated on the fact that the MBC is used on the #2 solenoid to control the boost by using the solenoid to actuate the waste gate rather than directly controlling the waste gate by bypassing the solenoid. Thats my $ .02

i got all the goodies, i have an Apexi EBC and currently running 13 psi and notice sometimes that at full throttle i dont get good pull.but at 3/4 throttle it pulls real good. i just dont want the stock bov to have a heart attack. ha ha
i dont mind the extra cash, ive always liked the anodized color. but my ebc is directly on the turbo bypassed the solenoid.we'll see.thanks for the info ill put it to use (gear head)also thanks to IAN on the ebc install.works great!!
