Not to sound like a broken record but a few questions:
1. the pick in one of the links showing the point in the exhaust collar for the pyrometer was taken from under the car? 2. I have a vac/boost gauge with MAP sensor. It requires constant power thru start up. If I use the add a fuse piece (which i bought) what is a good fuse to do the add a fuse? 3. I have a pyrometer as well, where can i take power for that and does it require a fuse? 4. Lastly, if i splice the orange wire for use for lighting the gauges, will the gauges switch on with the rest of the dash lights, or do i need to tap into the wire that runs for the dash lights? Any of u do it yourselfers please give me a hand thax . Rob

Redman,
Yes the orange wire will work with the rest of the gauges, dimming ect, that is where mine is tapped. Tom |

Redman,
If you put the probe for the EGT in the "cuff" after the turbo your temperature readings are going to be possibly several hundred degrees low. The best place is in the exhaust manifold before the turbo. I installed mine like Hector from Exhaust Depot did. See the following pic. I used a 1" hole saw to drill through the heatshield and then drilled and tapped the manifold for the probe. The probe on my Autometer was 1/8" MPT but since I didn't have a 1/8" PT tap, I drilled and tapped it for 1/4" MPT and then used a 1/4" MPT x 1/8" FPT reducer bushing. Numerous people have expressed concern about metal shavings falling down into the exhaust manifold while drilling the hole and the shavings might be sucked into the turbo damaging the blades. I did not have this problem and in fact, the rotation of the drill bit draws the shavings up to the outer surface where I picked them up with a shop vac.
