[8)] I looked at the Air Raid so called cold air intake as well as the other so called cold air systems. Doesn't metal conduct heat? and with all the holes and gaps how does the almost 200 degrees stay out? Not to mention the 2 feet of hose the air has to travel down next to the engine and exhaust just to get to the turbo!! and they want HOW MUCH for it? Sooo since Air Raid had the closest idea to right (with the box concept) I used it as a template. I removed the entire box (plastic on the bottom too thin) and made a one piece box with no gaps out of 1/4 inch plexigalass (doesn't conduct heat) insulated it with 1/8th inch rubber and aluminum insulation. It sits snugly on the rubber feet on the bottom and the top conforms to the hood (Air Raids only good idea). The hose uses the same insulation from the turbo all the way up to the box. Also the filter goes in at a 90% angle to make it work with the fender vent better!
So far testing has been drive for a while open the hood, right hand in air box and face body and left hand in the engine box area. besides myself two other people have done this also. tomorrow I'm getting 2 outside thermometers and will photo document these findings. If anyone is interested in the patterns e-me and go to http://www.imagestation.com/member/j...d%3D4289487969 To see it.
