Default Mopar BOV

I haven't had my DC3 a week yet and I have already started ordering parts! Is that bad??

Anyway, I was wondering how much louder the Mopar BOV would be. I pulled the silencers out of the airbox and in the process of building a new charge pipe. With the silencers out of the airbox you can hear the turbo whine more and I can actually hear the stock surge valve pop off a little.

Will the Mopar BOV blow off loudly EVERY time you let off the gas, or only if you are into boost? I can only hear the stock surge valve while in boost. If I drive normally I can't hear anything. I am hoping to keep it a "sleeper" and not draw attention unless I want to.

You will hear the bov a lot more if you have a stick because you let off of the gas a lot more. With the auto you don't tend to let off of the gas between shifts so you won't hear it as often.

I was wondering the same thing about the noise. My Stage 1 came in the mail last week and in the box was the Mopar BOV at no charge. The Stage 1 is installed in my DC3 #0263 (Auto/trans) and I can't make up my mind to install the BOV or not. The Stage 1 is a smokin mod. The BOV, just noise?

Other mods: Plastic intake, all amx hard pipes, Hot pipe (turbo to IC) oil modifier, airbox mod W/K&N, Magnacore wires & Eibach rear springs

So you installed the Stage 1 in a DC3? How much better does it run? I am thinking about getting one for mine, but going by the info by other forum members that it will only give a 15 hp gain. Not sure if the 15 hp is worth $450?!?!

What did your sheet say that came with the kit? 235 hp at the crank, or at the wheels? I know the '05 or newer get 235 hp at the wheels with the Stage 1 upgrade. The '03's only get 235 hp at the crank. ( BIG DIFFERENCE!!!!)

I just finished doing the airbox mods (removed white silencer, cut snorkel in bottom of airbox), put in a K&N, and installed my custom made 3" charge pipe. I took "her" for a spin and I can tell a little bit of a difference. The boost seems to come in smoother and stronger. I can actually hear the stock surge valve (BOV) quite well now!! Whoo-hoo!!

I don't know if I want to put the Mopar BOV on now?!?!?!

Anyone know how much louder it would be if I put the Mopar BOV on??

Don't look at it on the overall level. You actually get more power throughout the powerband. A Stage 1 car will smoke a stock GT.

Sweet. Doesn't it also allow a couple more pounds of boost out of the stock turbo?

I am guessing that would be the next thing for me to do to the car since I aleady did the airbox/charge pipe mods?

A stock GT spikes to 13. A Stage 1 GT spikes to 15. Keep in mind that pcm controlled boost is dependent on the weather. You'll spike less in the winter and more in the summer when it is hotter.

Stage 1 will not disappoint.

The information sheet with the stage 1 for my DC3 says 235 hp @ the crank. I had installed the plastic manifold (Cost about $100) with a claimed increase of 8 to 10 hp and experienced a minor increase in the seat of the pants dyno. After installing stage 1 a VERY noticeable difference. Best mod so far. Go for the Stage 1 and keep your old module. You can always sell a used stage 1 for about 50% of cost if you sell the car.
