Ptcruzin;I have been running the 1/4 mile and testing for 50 years and have learned the most important thing in running is weather, with out this it's like having inconsistent test equipt.I have at the races predicted the times others will turn within .01 second,at the track i will take the weather every run, some times more then 10 times a night.OLDHEAD

Ian,

If your weather in PR is anything like ours in SE Ga, you can probably count on the humidity to be somewhere between 80% to 90% most of the summer months, with the temperature during the day staying withinin a 10 degree variance. These are generalizations, but are based on the way things are in these early months of "the season".

If you take the base HP, and divide the measured change into the first measured base HP, you should come up with a fairly good percentage of change (fractional multiplier) associated with each run's changes.

Then, it seems you could apply the corrected figures to the base hp range that others have gotten on the dyno (stock) and go from there. This may give you an idea if your numbers are consistent with real-world numbers.

I know that there are differences between dynos, and where the hp is measured from, but somewhere in there shoud be some places to extract some good average data from.

I will keep playing around with the Bel-Tronics FX-1, and see if I can massage the data that it puts out to make it more in-line with real-world figures others have shared from the track and dyno. At any rate, it is more scientific than the "Butt Dyno", and gives a readings that are relative to each other and should be able to tell which theories pan out.

If I can find some similarities between what I test with the FX-1 and what others have tested on the Dyno with the same base setup, I can apply a correction factor to the HP and see if it starts to match the Dyno numbers.

You are right; this is fun...
