Default Strange Happening

Yesterday I noticed the transmission down shifting kind of funny every time I came to a stop. I noticed the engine speed was kind of high. As I looked at the tach, I saw it was idling at about 1000 rpm. Where on the engine can I make an adjustment? Or do you think something else is wrong. It always idled around 500 or so I thought. Thanks for your comment.

I don't think this is unusual for a GT. Mine has ALWAYS idled around 1000 rpm.

I checked closer today and it's about 750 rpm.

Bados, I would say it's fine, because it is a GT, it's gonna idle higher. However, maybe some of the experts around here know something different.

I have mine serviced every 3000 miles, and no one has told me that it idles too high.

I think you turbo guys have the same IAC (Idle Air Controller) that we non-turbo guys do. It won't hurt to take it off and clean it and put it back on. It has solved many idling problems here on the forum.

So at what RPM should a GT idle?

How do I take it off? What should I clean it with?

Haven't the faintest idea what it should idle at. My non-turbo idles at about 650 but that doesn't help you. Actually I'm wrong, it's 650 with the air-conditioning on, it's a little lower without.

As for taking it off, there's two twist screws that hold it on. Just unscrew them and disconnect the electrical connection.

Here's something to read. It's not our engine but will do...
