Default Turbo Timer ....

What is the best turbo timer out there? Any ideas? Has anyone ever had any issues with their turbo timer?

I have a Greedy auto timer, but in my opinion, the Blitz works the best. It monitors Vacuum and adjusts accordingly. I think this is the one most people have in their cars. If you are going to buy one, check with Hector from Exhaust Depot, his prices are good and he already has an instalation kit for the PT and a Video.

Both units work well, but I like the Blitz unit. It separates the display from the computer unit. The computer unit can be installed under the dash and the display can be mounted anywhere. I have mounted mine above the rearview mirror with a fabricated bracket, but there is enough cord on the display to mount it almost anywhere in the cruiser. (Pic of the blitz unit below)

Actually, I have had my blitz for a while, thought the install was going to be pretty easy.. But it still doesnt work properly. Whenever i turn my car off, the timer turns off also, instead of staying on and idling. It works and calculates time fine, it just shuts off and i havent had time to check all of the splices again. i already replaced them twice. If anyone can help me with this... please do.

Mr.Blonde, My guess would be that it is not setup correctly. It is very easy to shut off the auto function and not know it. Go back through the setup steps and make sure you have it setup in auto mode. If you need more help let me know and we can talk on the phone.

Mr Blonde, the purple wire is a saftey (for manual Tranny)used on the emergency brake switch so that the timer will not run the engine unless the emergency brake is set. On automatics, you need to ground the purple wire to a good ground. The fact that the timer times but the engine does not run leads me to believe that the purple wire ground is either missing or possibly a bad connection. Insure that the connector in the back of the timer unit has not backed out. This can sometimes happen when placing the unit under the dash. Also ground it to the same fusebox attach screw as the other grounds, because the timer unit itself works you know that that this ground is acceptable. Hope this helps, and good luck.

Are those timers expensive and do you think there will be warranty issues?

Also, are the timers realy needed, I have heard that turning the turbo car off while hot is real bad for the motor - true?
