See if you can get another PT owner, in a parking lot, or some place like that, to compare PT sounds with you. Do you have a local PT Cruiser Club in your area? That would be a great place to make a comparison. You may need a new cooling fan.

Thanks. I'll do that. I had already thought about asking a guy about it. But, we're always passing each other in the wind. I'll have to make the time to ask him about it. However, I do think his PT Cruiser isn't a turbo. I don't know if this makes a difference or not. But, I'll try. I think I might need a new fan also. I don't belong to any PT Cruiser clubs in my area. Again thanks.

Just my opinion, but with the Turbo you should be running premium gas. The car will run better, and I am fairly certain that the GT models are supposed to use it. IDK if it's different with the Turbo lites.

Turbo lites don't require premium so regular would be fine.

The stage 1 increases your boost levels and adjusts your timing, so you would require premium.

Sure thing.

Also, you could skip the stage 1 and possibly get a custom tune from Diablo Sport or an SCT tuner. You'd only be able to run on 93 (or however you tune it), but even more power would be available.

I use the 87 octane gas. My car has about 24,000 miles on it. My warranty on it is up to 36,000 or a year. I'm trying to make sure if there is anything seriously wrong with this car, that I can get it fixed BEFORE the warranty expires. I believe the dealership is not telling me what's wrong, because, they are trying to wait for the warranty to expire. Everything else about my car I absolutely love. My car is so nice looking and I love the way it handles the turns. But, I'm fearful that something is seriously wrong. Yet, I can't trust the people who sold the car to give me any service reports. Any suggestions?
Have you owned a car with an electric radiator fan before? The fan comes on an off independently of other factors. There is no old style fan that is attached directly to the front of the engine and driven by pulleys like in the old days. In some cars, the fan runs all the time you have A/C on, but only if a thermostat requires at other times. Idling, very slow traffic or very spirited driving causes the temperature to rise just enough to activate the fan, which continues to run as you pull into a parking lot for a while. SOME other cars, the fan even continues to run after the engine is shut down, even with the key off. It seems you might be mistaking the cabin a/c fan as having any direct noise link to the cooling fan. They're unrelated in terms of "noise." I have trained my wife and kids to SIT THERE and wait with the engine idling and the a/c OFF until the fan stops as a hedge against superheated turbo bearing oil coking, a situation where the oil COOKS inside the turbo bearing as the super high RPM turbine continues to spin a while after high use. If you read the owners manual, 2006 convertible, page 282-283 you'll see they recommend you idle for a cool down period. This is to keep the oil pump pushing oil thru and the cooling system operating; hence the sound of the electric radiator fan. ALSO, you don't specify GT turbo or the 180 hp "turbo lite" - for the GT turbo, 91 octane gas is required.
